Is there the same amount of detail for roads in Topo V3 as City Navigator? I do not know either product well, so I am making an assumption!!:soapbox ie I think Garmin Topo will have virtually every suburban/city road on it. Even though they are from different data soures. I assume this based on my use of OzTopo (yes, I know it is a different product) but I have never been on a road (in Victoria) that has not shown on OzTopo. Hi me again I am the person who was trying to get an upgrade to V3 as i got V2 after V3 was announced but not told about it. Any way I got an email from JA the other day asking what my Unit ID was, then yesterday i recieved another email from JA telling me i would have to send them the unit so they could update the Unlock Keys or something along those lines. What does this mean?

Can't they just send me a DVD with V3 and i acan install it and load it with mapsource? Why would they need my GPS device?

I have Topo V2 on DVD so I think I only need Topo V3 on DVD and all should be good, I'm not understanding what they are on about. Thanks Michael. I suspect that there are two issues/possibilties for the dealer here.

They appreciate you buying the V2 DVD from them but want to make sure you have registered to that GPS and not another and trying to score another copy. In theory Garmin would know by serial numbers of both GPS and Software that they have been registered together because they can access your Garmin account.

JA cannot access your account without your permission. That they may have made a deal with Garmin to return V2 but need to confirm V2 is on the GPS and JA would contact Garmin and sort it out over the phone to them and for JA to get an RMA (Return Manufacturer Authorisation) for V2. (this is the most likely reason). I paid for my V3 DVD order a few days back (19th August 2010).
